About the role
We are seeking an experienced Licensing Manager to lead our licensing team in delivering the Council?s statutory licensing functions. In addition to managing, motivating and developing a small team the role will involve giving advice to Committees, Councillors and Senior Officers as well as writing and reviewing new policies and procedures to meet the requirements of a wide range of licensing legislation. It will, on occasions, involve attendance at court.
Self motivated and proactive with previous line & budget management experience or a relevant management qualification, you will also have demonstrable knowledge of the main licensing regimes and ideally a certificate or degree in licensing law. In addition, you will be well organised with the ability to negotiate with/influence stakeholders and build strong and constructive relations with others. You will also need to be able to occasionally work outside of normal office hours and hold a valid driving license to enable effective attendance at court and travel throughout the district (subject to reasonable adjustments for applicants with a disability).

East Devon District Council has decided to relocate away from its current headquarters in Sidmouth. Some staff will relocate to Exmouth during the latter part of 2017 and others to Honiton towards the end of 2018.
