Engineering Manager - Technical Authority (Auxiliary)

Would you like to play a key role in the design and development of the Type 26 programme? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Technical Authority at our site in Scotstoun.

As an Engineering Manager - Technical Authority, you will be responsible for the technical output of the Auxiliary Systems design. You will be required to discharge the Technical Authority for the T26 Aux systems on behalf of the T26 Chief Engineer. Receiving written authority and terms of reference. This delegation will empower you to make engineering decisions consistent with Company Policies and the Engineering Framework, and as may be required to progress the work of a project in accordance with the contract requirements.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to be involved in T26 programme at key stages of the programme.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Technical Authority will involve:

Ensuring the Auxiliary System designs are safe, to specification and to quality

Developing an effective strategy for the design, integration, manufacture and through life support of the Auxiliary systems

Being responsible for the technical assurance of the Auxiliary Systems engineering work and provide a technical figurehead for the team undertaking those tasks

Overseeing the maintenance of design intent through spatial integration and in to commissioning / build, including approval of engineering documents and change requests, overseeing of design intent reviews etc.

Ensuring there is a coherent strategy around commissioning / STW of the systems and the system designs support that strategy

Managing the delivery and support the reporting of progress on allocated work packages, ensuring that the agreed scope is delivered within budget and that any additional scope is identified and costed/charged separately

Your skills and qualifications:


Auxiliary Systems or Fluid system design experience is essential

Experience operating in a large, complex project at engineering management level in a multi-disciplinary, matrix management environment

Extensive knowledge of Project Management techniques (EV, CPI, SPI, Risk etc.)

Previous experience in an engineering manager or as a technical authority role

Degree qualified in a marine engineering discipline or similar experience

Ideally will be chartered engineer or working towards
