My Client is a market leading systems integrator, with an extensive record of completing automation projects for internationally recognisable companies. They are currently enjoying a period of sustained growth and are looking for a number of engineers to expand their team. For this position they require an engineer with extensive PLC and SCADA experience within a heavy industrial background. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Total engineering and commercial responsibility for projects, from initial handover to completion and beyond
  • Providing a high quality service to customers, whilst delivering projects in line with the company?s philosophy
  • Take complete ownership of the project at handover stage and maintain responsibility for all activities, including those delegated to other staff or sub-contractors
  • Detailed hardware and software design including product selection
  • Manage project expenditure, ensuring that budgets are maintained
  • Carry out regular reviews of the project, ensure that delivery & milestones are met
  • Advise the Projects & Engineering Director of any items that may impact on the project programme to ensure that the company maintains its policy of never delivering late
  • Liaise closely with the Purchasing Department to ensure that all purchases are made ensuring that the time constraints of the project are maintained and such purchases are competitively priced
  • Generate quotations and specifications, and negotiate with the customer for additional cost items
  • Manage any customer change order requests, including additional cost items, to ensure that prices and budgets are correctly maintained
  • Organise CAD, manufacturing, test, despatch and commissioning activities during the course of the project
  • Visits to customer sites where required to ensure smooth flow of the project
  • On-site commissioning of completed project, if required
  • Support of Sales team in defining proposals involving SCADA
  • Support the engineering team on industrial IT issues
  • To comply with all Company procedures as defined in various documents including the Quality Manual, Staff Manual and Health & Safety Manual
  • Be pro-active in supporting other company activities such as supporting fellow engineers, training, and assisting with sales and site support
  • To maintain good relationships with customers, suppliers and company staff
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Relevant university degree in either engineering or computer science.
  • Previous experience in industrial PLC and control systems
  • Excellent working knowledge of SCADA/HMI and PLC?s products
  • Ability to work either individually or as part of a team
  • Able to manage and document the information required for a successful project
  • Knowledge and experience of Siemens, Rockwell, ABB or Wonderware equipment is essential.
