Our client's Internal Audit team is responsible for providing independent, objective assurance services to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the risk management, control and governance processes.

An opportunity has arisen for an Internal Auditor based in London or the North West to join our client's Internal Audit and Assurance Team on a part time 12 month Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave. This is an important role in which you will be responsible for planning and carrying out internal audits in line with the Internal Audit Plan. You will provide clear and concise reports on your findings, escalate risks appropriately and make recommendations to the relevant Departments/ Business Units.

A typical day will include:

· Evaluating the design, operational effectiveness and efficiency of processes and internal control systems across all business functions, including employability, skills, youth services, health and all corporate departments.

· Acting as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and efficiency of operational processes.

· Planning and executing different aspects of Internal Audit, including operational, financial and compliance related control evaluations.

· Assisting the organisation to evaluate the processes and controls in place for preventing and detecting fraud / assess and improve anti-fraud internal controls.

About you:

You must have the following skills and experience:

Degree or related professional qualification or experience.

Qualified Internal Auditor (desirable).

Broad experience in internal audit, risk management and compliance.

Proven experience in all aspects of planning and implementing internal audits.

Thorough understanding of controls and risks and their application to the business environment.

Customer focused to ensure that the audit processes and audit findings add value for the business partner audited.

Desire and ability to understand ways of working / processes and the curiosity to challenge and improve ways of working.

Ability to interpret audit findings and communicate them in an effective manner to facilitate improvement where required.

Ability to influence senior stakeholders to agree and drive actions to completion.

Strong analytical mindset that can be applied to the effective interpretation of data and problem solving.

Ability to apply analytical thinking for the evaluation of business processes and recommendation of solutions to address the identified issues.

Proficient with MS Office tools.

Self-motivated, enthusiastic and energetic with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with remotely based teams.

Ability to design and produce reports to a professional standard.

Ability to think objectively and demonstrate sound judgement.

Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.

Additional information:

This is a UK national role, therefore we will require you to be mobile, with a high degree of flexibility and will include travel throughout the year and overnight stays.
