Development Underwriter, Birmingham. to £40,000 plus excellent benefits and development opportunities.

You will be responsible for developing broker relationships dealing with existing business enquiries covering renewals and adjustments across commercial risks.
You will underwrite Commercial Schemes business / Insurance within the SME market, in order to meet agreed service standards and key performance objectives.
Actively identify opportunities to cross-sell and have a strong focus on building rapport with, and delivering a superb service to broker partners.
Managing your own portfolio of brokers within the Birmingham geographical region.
Whilst desk based you will be heavily involved in attending broker meetings regularly each week as developing key relationships is an imperative part of the role.
Working closely with other regional offices and underwriters within.

To apply we are looking for:
Ideally you will be a graduate (2.1 or above or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 A levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above
Previous Underwriting experience in Commercial or an area of Commercial Insurance. Will consider individuals from a Broking background as well.
The ability to develop a thorough technical underwriting knowledge and then make accurate, clear underwriting decisions.
Excellent telephone manner and inter-personal skills to develop close rapport with brokers.
Strong communication, negotiating and influencing skills.
Team player and able to demonstrate a high work ethic.
Demonstrate a high level of drive and enthusiasm.
Ideally ACII qualified or progression and / or willing to study towards (study support will be provided).
