The Tax Team
The Tax Department is based in Victoria, London and provides the Capita Group of companies with in-house tax expertise including Corporate Tax, M&A, VAT and Employment Tax. The team deals with the Group's tax compliance obligations, as well as advising the business units on technical issues affecting their areas. This may include areas such as contract reviews, overseas trading, asset/share acquisitions, restructuring and employee tax issues. The dynamic nature of Capita keeps the tax team busy and requires the ability to respond and adapt to this fast paced environment.
Purpose of the role
To provide additional support and cover for the UK tax team and ensure the efficient, accurate and timely delivery of the group's day-to-day corporation tax compliance and statutory reporting requirements. This role is available on a part-time basis, ideally 3 days per week.
Manage and responsible for the review and submission of a portfolio of the UK group's corporation tax returns
Manage and responsible for other UK tax areas including cash tax forecasting, Group Payment Arrangement, Joint Amended Return, debt cap calculations etc
Manage and responsible for the preparation of UK GAAP current and deferred tax numbers and disclosures for a portfolio of UK companies
Assistance with other ad-hoc UK corporation tax queries
Manage and responsible for ensuring that UK tax accounts are fully reconciled and any differences investigated and swiftly resolved
Assistance with the group's SAO corporation tax documentation
Essential Experience / Skills
- Experience of in-house corporation tax compliance and reporting role
- ACA / CTA / HMRC experience or equivalent
- Understanding of all Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of Alphatax
- Experience of SAP/Hyperion accounting systems
- Motivated and driven individual with a willingness to learn and "can do" attitude
- Excellent all-round communicator
- Strong analytical skills and eye for detail
- Team player and confidence to build productive relationships with Finance and business colleagues
- A proven track-record in CT compliance and CTA / accounting qualification ideally
