Investment Portfolio ManagerFund ManagerResearch AnalystSpecialist AdviserSupporting youWe pride ourselves on the professional support we offer our graduates, and the friendly, down to earth community our graduates have shaped.

Before you start, you’ll be paired with a ‘buddy’ (a graduate already on the programme) who’ll be there to help you get settled, answer any questions, and share their experiences.

You’ll also be assigned a Line Manager and a mentor. They’ll be there to provide support for the duration of the programme, as well as working with you to create a Personal Capability Plan. They’ll provide advice on your rotations, help you reflect on your progress, develop your career, and build your professional network.

For a fuller picture of how you’ll progress through the programme and the support you’ll receive at each stage, check out the Learning Journeybelow.

InductionThis will include meeting your buddy and support team, getting to know your fellow graduates, and taking part in an in-depth induction period, which will give you a broad understanding of how RBS works, our values, and our goals.

You’ll hear from leaders across our business and be brought up to speed on key topics like our customers, bank structure, entrepreneurship, risk and control, technology and digital innovation.

RotationsThese programmes consist of either 3 or 4 six month rotations, depending on which one you join.

After the induction, you’ll begin your first rotation. You’ll be assigned a line manager and team in your area of Private Banking, and will be immersed in their work for 6 months.

For the remaining rotations you’ll have time to discuss options with your support team and apply to the areas that interest you. The final selection will depend on both your motivations and the business’ needs.

The scale and diversity of our private banks means you’ll benefit from an excellent range of placement options. The overall aim of the rotations are to give you exposure to the full breadth of work we do. So, wherever you go, variety is key.

QualificationsAs you progress through each rotation you’ll be able to take advantage of a comprehensive suite of learning and training options to develop the technical and business expertise you’ll need.

From the moment you begin your first placement, you’ll be working towards a recognised qualification, which you’ll complete depending on your area of specialism. These can include the CeMAP, CISI Investment Advice Diploma (IAD), PCIAM or Chartered Banker Certificate.

Community ProjectDuring the programme you’ll take part in a CSR project with a team of fellow graduates. This involves linking up with a charitable organisation and developing and delivering a solution to support their work.

You’ll have the chance to participate in a fund raising competition with other teams, and present your project to a panel of senior managers. It’s a great opportunity to contribute to a valuable cause and put your entrepreneurial skills to the test!

Future capability planIn your final rotation you’ll discuss career plans with your support team, so you’ll be ready for the transition to a permanent role. The decisions you make here won’t be spur of the moment – they’ll be the result of long standing discussion, and a carefully crafted Future Capability Plan that runs throughout the whole of these programmes.

From start to finish, this plan will empower you to develop your talents and tailor your own learning journey, while covering the core themes which are central to our business’ success. It will form the basis of discussions with your support team, and incorporate formal and self-led learning

About youTo be considered for this graduate scheme, you’ll need to possess, or be on course to achieving a 2:1.

You’ll also need sharp analytical skills, paired with an interest and dedication to self development.

You’ll have fantastic communication skills, both written and verbal, and a strong team work ethos. You’ll enjoy working with people, and have a desire to learn when it comes to relationship management.
