DevOps Engineer / Linux Specialist / Site Reliability Engineer / SRE

A talented and enthusiastic or aspiring DevOps Engineer is required to join a new DevOps team of a leading global digital media and retail organization. This is a new team so you will have plenty of scope to play a key role in building the team and be able to really influence and shape the product architecture and development approach and processes. You will help lead the culture change within the organisation and will be focused on building an on-premise self-service automated software defined data centre. Our client are looking to move from more traditional Microsoft 'full stack' .NET ecosystem (mssql, wcf, soap, mvc, TFS etc) to a more leading edge and 'best of bread' architecture. This will involve cross skilling the existing teams in technologies such as; Jira, Git, Angular4+, typescript, dotnet-core, rest, json, the concept of a 'the api' and 'productisation'.

You will be a talented and passionate Engineer who is a self starter and quick learner who has a real passion and interest in the latest DevOps and Continuous integration and deployment technologies. We are happy to consider both Junior and more experienced candidates who may have previously worked within DevOps, Systems Administration, software development or automation testing environments with some exposure to relevant technologies.

Ideally educated to Degree level or with demonstrable commercial experience in an IT Operations or software development environment you will have some skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Strong fundamental computing skills, including familiarity with Linux operating systems and scripting languages (bash, python, groovy, kotlin)
  • Modern distributed architectures and cloud infrastructure.
  • Network and web application security.
  • Distributed Version Control in a commercial environment (Git / Mercurial).
  • Agile software development processes.

Familiarity with some of the following skills will be beneficial, although training and mentoring will be provided

  • Jira / Bitbucket / Jenkins/ Bamboo
  • Puppet
  • Typescript / Angular
  • Log Management (Elk stack)
  • Containerisation (Docker)
  • Agile software development processes.
  • .net diagnostics
  • Orchestration (Rancher, Kubernetes)
  • Build and Test Automation tools (TeamCity, Jenkins)
