As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for all stages of product/specifications, from research and development to design and fabrication/manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning.
You will also be providing efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from a variety of pumping package solutions, small fuel storage solutions to large fuel farms facilities. Working directly and communicating effectively with project management, business development managers, production team and clients with high professional acumen.

Project Management: -

Development

  • Project managing design and potential construction opportunities
  • Developing and implementing procedures relating to in-house workflows, installation, testing and end user operational manuals for equipment, including maintenance schedules and spare parts lists
  • Owning and driving new product designs, from start to finish ensuring our products are globally compliant
  • Working in conjunction with production to provide timely calculations/designs/drawings
  • Looking for and implementing continuous improvement of existing products

Research

  • Researching, reviewing, checking, approving and ensuring that all products are, and remain, code compliant to the latest standard
  • Exploring opportunities to minimize costs associated with compliance needs
  • Reviewing, analyzing and interpreting customer / supplier data and specifications
  • Assisting in ensuring that Western Global maintains the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction

Product requirements

  • Pump, motor and pipe sizing ? requirements
  • Assisting in the estimation of tenders
  • Assisting in the design of quality control documentation/manuals to suit each product
  • Liaising with suppliers, production, sales, industry experts, project managers, site engineers to establish correct applications for each product
  • Providing highly proficient models and detailed fabrication drawings with SolidWorks / AutoCAD
  • Providing technical support and guidance to workshop fabrication teams
  • HAZOPs, AS1940 / AS1692 / AS1657 / UL and risk assessment processes

General

  • Driving a ?PRO-CUSTOMER? culture in order to provide proactive and timely customer service to internal and external customers
  • Writing reports and documentation
  • Providing technical advice

Required Attributes:

  • Engineering degree qualified or equivalent (Mechanical engineering) experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, at all levels, particularly around the production of clear and concise technical and non-technical reports
  • High levels of computer and IT skills, specifically AutoCAD and SolidWorks, spreadsheet and database packages
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to identify problems and come up with innovative, cost effective solutions in any of the multi-functional aspects of engineering design work
  • Excellent understanding of engineering services design
  • A track record of delivering cost effective, well designed mechanical schemes to programme dates and to budget
  • Preparing documentation for funding bids
  • A commercial mind-set
