Agile Delivery Manager required for a 6-12 month contract based in London.

My client is in the midst of a transformation driven by technology. Their innovative technology platforms and smart content solutions operate at the cutting edge of big data, semantic web and cloud technology, enabling faster, more effective critical decision-making daily across the globe

Delivery facilitation is a developing discipline for the company, so the role provides opportunities to collaborate with others to define their ways of working and delivery framework for the teams and as part of the wider organisation. You will belong in the technology side of the business and report to the Agile Delivery Manager

What you will be doing:
- Leading the Delivery Team - managing a small team of permanent and contract staff.
- Creating a continuous improvement environment, within the team and the wider community.
- Working as part of the management team, coaching and developing their Agile practices and culture.
- Ensuring the team facilitates in a hands-on, delivery focused way using techniques like:
o Creating and analyzing data - e.g. lead time, burn-ups, cycle time etc. to provide insights into team delivery and inspire positive change
o Use data to forecast delivery schedules and support negotiations around prioritisation and staffing
o Facilitate planning meetings and retrospectives until the teams can manage this themselves
o Work with the Product Managers & delivery teams to estimate backlog items and ensure optimal flow through the delivery process
o Delve into detail to help teams overcome technical problems
- Lead by example getting hands dirty whenever possible.
- Help to shape and define team practices and processes to continually improve agile ways of working
- Work at both a team level and a department level to increase delivery maturity.

Role responsibilities:
- Build collaborative, professional, and successful relationships with direct reports, product, tech teams and the wider business
- Provide visibility into the status and progress of work at a department level.
- Co-ordinate and synchronise dependent work items across disciplines and teams
- Build shared understanding of obstacles to progress; negotiate to remove obstacles
- Communicate with stakeholders and manage their expectations
- Foster a sense of energy, drive and purpose in the delivery teams
- Aspire to inspire.

Required skills:
- Strong Agile software delivery experience e.g. with Scrum and/or Kanban
- Experience of all parts of the product lifecycle including end-of-life
- Experience negotiating scope and priority of projects with management teams and business stakeholders
- Proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization, and in a variety of contexts
- Evidence of problem solving and providing creative solutions
- Experience as an Agile/Lean Coach
- Experience as a line manager
- Energy and enthusiasm for delivery and implementing change
- A methodology-agnostic, pragmatic approach to delivery management
- A technical background in software development, testing or operations is an advantage but not essential
