Our retained client, Ahlstrom-Munksjo, has partnered with us to recruit a strong Plant Manager to drive operations within the Chirnside and Radcliffe sites.

Details about the Client

Ahlstrom-Munksjo provides fiber-based materials for applications such as filters, medical fabrics, life science and diagnostics, wallcoverings and food packaging. At this particular site in Chirnside they manufacture rolled goods which then are used for the end product of tea bags, sausage casings and coffee pods. There is also a site in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester where the raw materials are produced to then be transported to Chirnside. The factory in Chirnside has been around since 1842 and has always been a paper based operation so there is a huge amount of history and heritage to the site.

Detailed Job Description

The Plant Manager is ultimately responsible for all aspects of Safety, Environment, Production, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Maintenance and Human Resources for the Chirnside and Radcliffe sites.

You will look to drive optimal productivity of the plant striving to hit challenge stretch targets.

The Plant Manager will ensure asset turnover maximisation and will look to execute a supply plan in a safe, sustainable and efficient way to meet customer demands and expectations.

You will oversee a 24/7 manufacturing operations with circa 150 h/c.

You will look to follow Lean principals leading from the front where possible.

Candidate's Profile

The successful candidate will ideally come from a paper making, foilage, plastics or web handling industry sector.

You will have a strong background in managing continuous process operations.

Degree level qualification or equivalent is essential.

Good organisational and leadership skills.

Creative thinking and problem solving skills.

Experience of providing customer solutions.

Strong background in Lean and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principals.

Team orientated/actively promote a positive and cooperative team spirit and respect the diverse contributions of team members, partners and networks.

You will be based within the local Berwick area (or open to relocating to Berwick) and will be open to travelling to UK sites when required.
