Application Support Analyst is required by an internationally established service organisation to provide 2nd line support to both the internal bespoke applications and the third party sourced solutions.
As a key part of the support team your role will predominantly be focused on supporting my clients vast portfolio of applications in a number of different areas. Whilst writing intermediate level queries of MS-SQL will be the fundamental aspect of your role, having the versatility to be able to support both the internal infrastructure and the wider support team in resolving tickets will enable you to excel in the role. Having a clear and concise method of communicating will be key as you will be responsible for bridging the support – development functions, effectively being the liaison between the infrastructure, support, business analyst and developers teams to ensure the efficient running of their applications.
The core aspect of this role will be the support of the internal and external applications with a bias towards MS-SQL queries (Selecting, Deletion, Modify etc). Alongside this, having a fundamental wider knowledge of networking fundamentals (Microsoft OS, Windows 7-10, Office 2010 – 2016, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Windows Server) will set you apart from the rest but isn’t an essential requirement.
Ultimately, this role represents an ideal opportunity for someone in the first 2 years of their career in IT Support. With the vast amount of different technologies to support, this role will enable the successful candidate to gain more experience across multiple IT areas whilst also improving already well established skills. This can then lay out a career path where various avenues are open to explore eg. Database Administrator, Network Engineer to name a couple.
Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 7.5 hours worked per day, variable start shifts between the hours of 08:00 and 17:30. Participation in an out of hours cover rota would be required, however, significant incentives are available for this.
