Primary Autism Teacher
Primary Autism Teacher January start 'Outstanding' Ofsted (2014) 135 - 165 daily rate Excellent on-site facilities Sutton I am currently working with an 'Outstanding' SEN school that caters for primary aged students with ASD based in Sutton who are looking for a primary Autism teacher to start in January on a full time and long term basis. Primary Autism Teachers will need to be able to teach across the primary curriculum and differentiate lessons according to their needs. As a primary Autism teacher you will complete 1:1 support for students including assisting in personal care tasks (feeding, changing, toileting etc.). This primary Autism Teacher role would suit both experienced fully qualified teachers from SEN schools or mainstream primary schools - experience supporting learners would be advantageous though not a necessity. The school has an amazing training scheme and induction programme and as a result, encourages applications from NQTs. The ideal Primary Autism teacher will have the following: Has had classroom based experience either in mainstream or SEN Has QTS Has experience teaching ASD students Strong subject knowledge of the primary national curriculum Experience using PECs and Makaton (preferable but not essential) Team Teach (A huge bonus but not essential) As this school caters solely for primary aged students with ASD, they endeavour to create a calming environment that suits the needs of all pupils on site. Each classroom is designed with colours deemed as 'calming' and has a range of facilities accessible to students across the Autistic Spectrum. The school uses a range of therapies and communication interventions including PODD, SALT, OT and Makaton to engage and ensure sessions are communicated effectively. Each student has an initial 6 week assessment once they join the school and then targets are set based on this and their EHCPs. If you are looking to join an outstanding provision and support young children with ASD then send your CV through today.
