In this role, you will be working alongside the schools Speech and Language Lead to create specialist support sessions for children on a 1:1 and group basis. The role will be to work with children throughout all Key Stages, who have identified mild to severe speech, language and communication difficulties from Early Years. You will need to be able to effectively and accurately record the needs, requirements and progress of the children's learning, to take into meetings with the SENCo, class teachers and other senior leadership, in order to continuously improve and create the most beneficial individual plans for these children.
The successful candidate will have some experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and be able to promote positive relationships with children, staff and parents throughout the school. You will have a strong academic background, with a minimum of a 2:1 degree in Linguistics or Speech and Language, and show a commitment to teaching, education or SEN. If you have a strong academic record, but may not have exact experience in a paid role, we would still like to hear from you! You will need to have strong organisations skills, be able to adapt quickly and show excellent classroom practice at all times.
