Secondary Teaching Assistant - Science / History / Geography | Hammersmith | Start Immediately


This 'Good' Rated Ofsted Secondary School are seeking to appoint a motivated and ambitious Teaching Assistants; applications are welcomed from both experienced and aspiring Teachers.

This school provides continuous opportunities to their students as well as the staff to enrich their learning in order to achieve excellence. In your new role you will enjoy working within a progressive environment where no two days will be the same. You will assist teachers in the day to day running of the class and on occasion be responsible to cover lessons, and add your personal knowledge of History, Geography or Science knowledge. You will be given the opportunity to progress your career in the field you enjoy.

Your New Teaching Assistant Role:
You will be working with pupils across KS3, 4 and 5 as an academic mentor. You will need to be comfortable supporting students at GCSE and A 'level, focusing on those striving to raise their academic attainment. Your role will be to support students on a 1-1 basis and run small group interventions supporting low ability and gifted and talented pupils. Experience of supporting students with a variety of SEN and Behavioural Difficulties is ideal but not essential. These positions offer real scope for training and professional development as well as an opportunity to make a real contribution to the education of individual students.

Key Skills:

  • 60 Days minimum Teaching Assistant experience
  • Ideally be educated to a degree level in Geography, History or Science
  • Hold grades C or above in English and Maths at GCSE level
  • Have experience working with young people in a school setting
  • Be committed, flexible and able to use own initiative
  • Have a good understanding of the national curriculum
  • Be able to demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
  • Have excellent communication and team work skills
  • Remain enthusiastic and maintain a positive outlook
  • Be a patient and an understanding supporter to vulnerable students
