We are currently looking for a Scrum Master (SM) to join our System Development team. Reporting into the Development Manager for the Wholesale & Channel Division, the Scrum Master is expected to lead and manage the delivery of multiple complex software development projects in a timely, controlled and predictable manner.

The SM is responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of complex system solutions, and does this through delivering primarily agile projects, identifying project stakeholders and managing all on-going communications to ensure all are kept informed at an appropriate level.

The SM is responsible for ensuring scrum is understood and enacted. This is done in close collaboration with the Development Manager, who has responsibility for ownership of the Delivery Team resource. The SM will be responsible for coaching the Delivery Team to self-organise and create high-value products, and remove impediments to the Delivery Teams progress.

The SM will also be responsible for:

  • Managing the Product Backlog for the Division effectively
  • Clearly communicating the vision, goals and Product Backlog items to the Delivery Team
  • Understanding and practising agility
  • Facilitating scrum ceremonies as required

Candidate Profile

  • The SM is expected to contribute to the successful delivery of the programme of work within their Division through regular, accurate and timely project updates and project risk and issue escalation, as well as actively supporting the resolution of programme-wide concerns. The SM should have a good awareness of all aspects of the programme including its management processes and contents.

  • The SM will have a good knowledge of a variety of approaches available to successfully deliver systems projects and supports the project team, users and business areas with a customer-focused and highly collaborative ethos.

  • Working as an SM, you will ensure that the scrum team adheres to scrum theory, practices and rules, and works as a servant leader within the project team, focused on providing an environment which will allow the team to work in the most effective manner and removing impediments that may prevent the team meeting the sprint goal.

  • The SM will have a good knowledge of a variety of approaches available to successfully deliver systems projects and supports the project team, users and business areas with a customer-focused and highly collaborative ethos.

  • The SM is expected to lead improvements to the efficiency and effectiveness of the project delivery approach and contribute to the identification of areas of improvement. This improvement responsibility includes coaching the Company in its scrum adoption and helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum.

  • The SM is expected to develop a level of understanding of our systems, systems strategy and any other relevant domain knowledge (legislation, product, industry), to aid their effectiveness in the role.

  • The SM as a senior, highly skilled and experienced member of the department will be expected to take on additional responsibilities beyond the scope of their immediate job. These will be agreed on an individual basis.
