Azure SQL DBA
Our client, a private sector organisation, is recruiting for a Senior/Lead SQL Server DBA to join their team based in Sunbury-on-Thames.
Candidates must have experience with Azure.
Person specification / Deliverables
A senior SQL Server DBA is required to support data migration across the organisation to the cloud.
As the organisation moves its infrastructure to cloud based computing, you will be responsible for defining the standards and implementing the move of services to Azure. You will also be required to design, implement and manage multiple database environments on Azure.
Design, implement, document, and handle all aspects of a mixed Windows and Linux environment
Ensure database systems offer the highest reliability and performance possible
Implement and monitor a comprehensive backup strategy to ensure recoverability of application and systems databases
Deploy and support applications on the Azure cloud platform
Continuous Deployment/Continuous Integration Pipelines
Database Security Concepts and Practices
Good database querying skills writing SQL
Knowledge of Disk space and memory management in SQL server
Data Modeling skills preferred
Act as a liaison between application development and different infrastructure teams.
Ability to troubleshoot across multiple applications.
Assist periodically in after-hours deployments and support
Experience with the Microsoft Azure in a DevOps Engineer, DBA role as well as application infrastructure related activities is a must
Experience with Windows Server administration and related applications, particularly Active Directory, IIS, and SQL Server
Experience with techniques and tools such as version control (GIT), Continuous Integration (TeamCity/Jenkins), and scripting against REST APIs
Ability to remain calm and courteous in demanding situations
Ability to manage multiple priorities and be willing to be on call during weekends/nights
Decisions typically related to resources, project approach, and tactical operations.
Results have significant impact on costs and the achievement of function objectives or project-based goals.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines tactical approach, resources, schedules and goals.
Works within general guidelines; applies advanced technical knowledge to solve moderately complex problems for a function.
Associate Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or Business equivalent.
Previous work leadership or senior level contributor experience
Requires minimum of 6+ years in area of specialization.
