I've been tasked with finding someone with strong networking skills that can work in a fast paced environment, and can deal with an ever changing IT landscape. No two days are the same and you will never be sat still. You will need to be able to multi-task and be able to prioritise throughout the day. The role will require client contact as well as dealing with internal customers/team members.
You could be fixing a server or Active Directory issue one minute and then have to drop everything to deal with a client issue. This role will test your technical and organisational/Project Management skills. You'll need to be able to think on your feet and not get frustrated if you don't get to finish a task. Strong communication skills go without saying and a professional approach to everything you do
There will be server refresh projects every year or two. In summary you need to keep the IT infrastructure of this software company ticking and always be thinking of ways to improve it!
This role isn't for someone looking for an easy ride, it will be demanding but also very rewarding. You will join the company as an Engineer and there will be plenty of opportunity for progression after approx 12 months. The company already has a path in place for you!
Key skills are:
Office 365 administration and configuration
Network management, Local DNS, DHCP, Networking (cabling), TCP/IP, Public DNS management, VPN configuration and support
Switches/routers network hardware configuration
NAS Storage configuration and management
PC repairs, rebuilds and upgrades
Laptop repair, configuration and servicing
Setting up system monitoring, failure prediction and proactive repairs
RAID array configuration
Backup, recovery and daily backup quality monitoring
Windows desktop (XP to Windows 2010)
IT Strategy planning
IT Qualifications are desirable but not essential
