** Communication Executive- PR/Media - Investment Banking, Global investment Bank, Canary Wharf, London, 3 month contract**

A tier 1 investment bank requires a competent Communication Executive - to join their team in London on an initial 12 month contract.

Overview of business area or project:

* Spokesperson with primary responsibility for day-to-day management of media relations and internal communications support for the Equities Department, one of the Investment Bank's most important business areas. This includes the following franchises: Cash Equities, Prime Services, Derivatives and Equity Research. The role also supports the Research Institute.
* The role offers senior client interaction, including responsibility for the Head of EMEA Equities, who is based in London, and other heads within Equities

Key Responsibilities:

* The individual would be required to work both independently and with the global team to:

* Understand and articulate global messages and talking points

* Develop and execute integrated communications plans that support the strategic objectives of the Equities Department
* Support Equities strategy by raising awareness of the EMEA franchise's competitive strengths and differentiation, sustained business momentum and experienced global management team

* Selectively raise the profile of the EMEA Equities business at industry/media conferences, through engagement in industry coalitions/trade groups and, as appropriate, in targeted media
* Partner with the business areas within Equities to help achieve strategic objectives by reaching key clients/prospects/influencers through coverage of transactions, hires, research, market insight, awards, etc.
* Partner with senior management and legal to manage issues and crisis situations, including litigation issues, as required, and regulatory topics
* Inform/motivate Equities employees through an ongoing internal communications program that reaffirms our client-focused, capital-efficient strategy and enthusiasm about Equities and CS. Build morale by promoting Equities successes.
* Additional responsibilities, as required, including back up and supporting colleagues in the EMEA region and globally

Skills:

* As the ideal candidate, you should have experience or the equivalent of demonstrated expertise in financial PR and/or financial journalism
* Strong relationships with key financial media covering the investment banking business, specifically Equities and capital markets
* Proven ability to work with and provide strategic counsel and practical advice to senior investment bankers and senior management
* Crisis communications experience, working closely with senior management, legal and media
* Ability to identify innovative and distinctive story ideas and place them proactively in key media
* Ability to work within a high energy, high expectation, team-oriented global culture, , handling sensitive information under deadline
* Proven ability to multi-task on a daily basis, managing on-going projects as well as ad-hoc issues that demand immediate attention
* Familiarity with the financial services industry and understanding of the competitive landscape
* High comfort level with financial materials and ability to absorb and synthesize knowledge across industry lines
* Sound judgment, good instincts and the highest ethical standards
