As a Junior Infrastructure Engineer, this is your chance to join a FTSE 250 company who are seeking to invest and improve their IT services. This is the server and storage team, so you'll be focusing on the Microsoft O/S and Servers, along with VMWare and above and beyond the day to day operational technical responsibility, you'll play a part along with the rest of the with implementing optimised processes and management practices that result in infrastructure, systems and services, that are reliable, scalable, secure, efficient, well controlled and documented, adhering to ITIL best practices.

In return for your skills, we offer flexible working hours, free gym, subsidized canteen, tennis courts, 5 a side football pitches, running track and free parking for you to enjoy your time at work.

The Role

Installation, configuration, maintenance and support of infrastructure and systems and taking ownership for the resolution of technical problems - specifically with the storage and server group.

Who are you, and what is your background?

Microsoft will be your technology provider of choice, and if you have VMWare, then that is a big tick.

You'll have skills, but we are just as interested in your attitude, and what you want to be in the future. If you join our team, we'll help get you where you want to be - specifically by way of servers and storage in the first instance but in a company of over 20,000 employees, you'll find plenty of opportunity to diversify.

This is a large scale environment with a lot of complexity so while a large / enterprise level background would be good, we are open minded and understand the all round level of skills that an engineer coming from a smaller environment can bring. The company are a strong believer, and supporter of formal accreditation and due to that, we'll like to think you will have either invested in formal accreditation such as becoming Microsoft certified (MCSE or MCSA) or VMWare certified (VCP) or be open minded to do that study - with our support.

We are looking to recruit a number of engineers, so have some flexibility on this but if Microsoft Server is your chosen route, we would expect:

* Experience supporting Windows Server OS 2003 - 2012 (Must have)
* Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP (Must have)
* Active Directory administration (Must have)
* Understanding of Group policy
* DFS (desirable)
* ADFS (desirable)
* Direct Access (desirable)
* MS Exchange
* Cloud technologies; Windows Azure, Office 365 (desirable)
* VMWare (desirable)

If you are aiming more for a storage and backup based role:
* Experience supporting Windows Server OS 2003 - 2012 (Must have)
* Backup/Archiving technologies; Symantec Backup Exec, Symantec NetBackup, CommVault (one or more)
* Experience with Storage technologies: NAS, SAN, ISCSI, Fibre Channel Switches etc (desirable)
* Experience supporting enterprise Storage - HP 3PAR, Dell EqualLogic, IBM Storwize V7000/V5000/DS ranges (desirable)

We have flexibility on working hours between 7am and 6pm, and while common sense and business practise will come into play, the chance is likely there to work a "Shift" between these hours, or rotate with colleagues on a week by week basis. There is no formal on call as yet, but this may come into place as your experience grows and it will be on a paid basis in the future, with likely rota being one week in six.

CRG TEC are an employment business acting on behalf of a client company.
