This is a unique and great opportunity to be involved with creating a centre of excellence within data analytics from the very beginning. This is working for a high profile brand and responsible for the design and implementation of a Data Analytics Centre of excellence (CoE) within a Technology & Operations function.

The position will be accountable for leading a cross functional team to support the design and implementation activities, engaging with key stakeholders on progress on a regular basis.

Additional responsibilities include engaging the Data & Analytics team in the creation of the CoE ensuring the teams are involved and engaged during the process, as well as driving the maintenance of core stability and momentum on transformation programmes within the Data & Analytic teams.

Responsibilities include the following:

Data Collection & Analysis

Leading the data analytics team to deliver actionable insights that enable the business to achieve its objectives.

Solutions Analysis

Develops integrated data strategies and solutions to long-term business needs to support the execution of business strategy by anticipating complex issues, challenges and opportunities.

Data Management

Responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of a key element of the organisation's data management system to ensure the accurate and secure storage, monitoring and effective use of data to drive the achievement of business outcomes.

Strategic Planning Develops and maintains a deep understanding of the business strategy to enable effective decision making and functional implementation. Leads, initiates and drives the overall data strategy, and adjusts and refocuses objectives and priorities as circumstances change, whilst responding to tactical challenges to ensure the achievement of business outcomes.

Building Capability Oversees the formal development of data governance and analytics capabilities across the COO function, whilst also raising awareness of data governance and analytics across the wider organisation and building capability through influencing, mentoring and other informal approaches.

Operational Planning Develops and delivers operational plans, ensures the operational efficiency of the data governance and analytics team, and provides technical input to the work of the function in order to deliver maximum value to the business.

Budgeting Responsible for the planning, forecasting and management of budget and for optimising resources within that to deliver maximum return on investment.

Experience Required

  • Extensive experience of providing strategic direction to a data governance and analytics team. From a background of working within a large modern big data environment from web scale business for example, Google, Facebook, Skype etc.
  • Experience of planning, managing and organising resources, and leading and building capabilities across a varied team.
  • Extensive experience of strategy development in a data governance and analytics environment.
  • Demonstrable track record of engaging with and influencing senior business leaders, and evidence of building and maintaining cross-functional relationships.
