£60,100 - £68,800, excellent pension (you put in 7.35%, employer put in 22.1%), 23 day holiday rising to 26/31,

Nottingham - UK Travel

The Opportunity:

Sometimes, you have a view on certain things which is blown out of the water and we have such an opportunity that does just that. Working for the HMRC in a newly created role as the Head of Engineering across their estates / facilities department on a new, fresh project

The estates department are currently spending £330m on their transformation of moving from 170 centres across the UK to 13 large regional centres in major cities, with a key focus on bringing their teams together to improve training, development and collaborative working environments. We went around their new offices in Nottingham - a plan and footprint for other regional offices - and they are a world away from the traditional, grey HMRC buildings that are stereotyped. Think more Google / Facebook open plan offices with outstanding facilities throughout the centre's.

This is the biggest project of its kind the HMRC has ever seen and the successful applicant will head the engineering in the estates and facilities in the project and ultimately whole department. An opportunity that is niche and we don't work on every day

The Role:

The role involves leadership, technical knowhow and the ability to interact and influence heavy hitting stakeholders across other parts of the public and private sector. You will be based out of Nottingham - their central Hub - for the majority of your work but in and around the other 12 regional centres which can be from Glasgow down to London (and any major city in between).

You will be managing a team of 5 senior professionals (consisting of a H&S, fire, estates, environmental and security professionals) who, again, are based out of Nottingham but will be working across the UK. You will be responsible for the management and leadership of these 5 as well as strategic direction, assurance of engineering and technical aspects of the estate life cycle, being given ultimate autonomy on the engineering and such functions.

Massively importantly, you will be looking to work with existing subcontract partners on the facilities side as well as influence senior stakeholders throughout the department and wider government.

The Person:

Someone who has vision to influence this huge transformation project. You are to be the "go to" guy within any engineering aspect of a £330m project, the biggest of its kind the UK has ever seen! You will be a chartered professional (or working towards chartered status) and managed the engineering function on an estates / facilities function. Worked with subcontract partners. And always liked / gained the best value whilst managing senior professionals in engineering and facilities.

But it's more for someone who wants to come in to come in to a fresh, new project and bring new ideas, influence different departments and be given real autonomy in a newly created role.

You must also be flexible to UK travel - all expensed of course. How you manage this is obviously up to you though

What next:

If you feel you have the relevant experience and want to spearhead a new multi million pound project, send me your CV and we can have a chat. Would love to hear your story
