Purpose of Position

The Buyer will be responsible for working within the Supply Chain team to manage the end to end supply of materials to ensure the best price and delivery schedule to support the programme. The buyer will need a level of technical knowledge to liaise with Engineering suppliers to achieve the best sourcing solutions to meet business needs.

Responsibilities
* Place PO's with suppliers using Oracle, ensuring budget forecast visibility and invoice compliance
* Expedite supply of materials and manage supplier order books
* Prioritise delivery of materials with suppliers to ensure sufficient supply is available to meet programme schedules
* Ensure the systems are fully populated to allow purchasing of materials to be managed via MRP
* Manage suppliers' performance ensuring metrics are maintained and corrective actions are carried out
* Develop relationships with the suppliers over the long term



Education/Experience
Essential
* Experience in dealing with raw material and component suppliers
* Experience in placing and managing purchase orders
* Experience in working with an MRP system to manage procurement and inventory (Oracle)
* Negotiation and cost management experience
* Experience in supplier management
* Can read and interpret Engineering Drawings

Desirable
* Experience of working with Oracle 11 i
* Experience of military connectors and cable harnesses and/or metalwork
* Experience of low volume / high value items
