Location: Tipton, West Mids

Salary: £25 - £30k - Excellent benefits package

Hours: 37.5 pw

A unique opportunity to join the UK operation of a large Automotive Manufacturing Group based in the Tipton area.

We are looking to recruit a pro-active and professional Lead Test Engineer for our Company joining a small but dedicated team to support the Quality function and to manage the validation testing and dimensional metrology assessments in line with standards. As the ideal candidate you will have experience of working in a Test Laboratory or Testing environment and have managed testing activities and schedules.

Supporting the Senior Quality Manager with queries, compilation of technical date and responding to internal and external customers. To be considered for this varied and challenging role, you will ideally have the necessary skills to fulfil the following:

Main Duties:

  • To manage a small team to provide support and direction to a wider quality team and test operations.

  • Carry out and manage serial product dimensional requalification of parts in line with specifications.

  • Carry out and manage mechanical requalification in line with specifications.

  • Ensure all testing equipment and plant is fully functional and calibrated.

  • Archive and maintain the test report database.

  • Constructing test plans using customer specifications as well as corporate guidelines.

  • Manage and support directs reports in terms of achieving testing requirements.

  • Manage test and measuring equipment calibration to ensure process conformity.

  • Produce, submit and archiving test data, results and reports.

  • Support and respond to customer concerns or internal quality concerns.

  • Maintain and update KPIs for the testing area.

  • Ensure continuous improvements to processes and methods of work.

  • Carry out process checks and audits.

Ideal Requirements:

  • Understanding of testing specifications and working experience of a test laboratory.

  • Identifying and auctioning quality problems appropriately and in a timely manner.

  • Knowledge of quality tools and techniques.

  • Knowledge of product validation testing, calibration and testing methodologies.

  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.

  • Good level of judgment on test results and outcomes.

  • Impartial and objective.

  • Good organiser of time.

  • Analytical and methodical.

  • Efficient and thorough.

  • Clear communicator.

  • A degree is a science subject is preferred (but not essential).
