London based Quant Fund seek a Trade Support / DevOps Engineer ideally experience in Python and Linux operating system and associated scripting languages. Experience of monitoring and troubleshooting applications running on the JVM. Knowledge of both traditional Relational and NoSQL databases, preferably Oracle and MongoDB. Experience of web based development and visualisation technology for portraying large and complex data sets and relationships. The ability to combine engineering expertise with the desire to improve existing processes with novel solutions for automation, monitoring and containerisation. Interest in learning and managing modern technologies such as Ansible, Docker, Prometheus, Logstash, Jenkins, Spark, Git, Jira. This role incorporates traditional first and second level support for all trading system technology, with escalation to other technology or third party teams (e.g. trading counterparties or market data providers) as appropriate. Ensuring continuous operation of business critical servers, applications and services, e.g. market data feeds, trading strategies. Ensuring relevant statistics and metrics are gathered, and predictive analytics used to ensure smooth system operation and growth. The firms systems are almost all running on Linux and most of their code is in Python, with the full scientific stack: numpy, scipy, pandas, scikit-learn to name a few of the libraries they use extensively. The firm implement the systems that require the highest data throughput in Java. For storage, they rely heavily on MongoDB and Oracle. They use Airflow for workflow management, Kafka for data pipelines, Bitbucket for source control, Jenkins for continuous integration, Grafana + Prometheus for metrics collection, ELK for log shipping and monitoring, Docker for containerisation, OpenStack for their private cloud, Ansible for architecture automation, and HipChat for internal communication.
