Salary - £37,500 plus overtime
Hour of Work - Panama Days Only - 2 on 3 off, 3 on 2 off

Our client is one the UK's fastest growing businesses and the one the largest Food Manufacturers in the UK. With 18 manufacturing sites, they produce both Branded and non-branded products to all of the major Supermarkets, plus smaller retailers. With a turnover of just over £1 Billion a year, the group has increased their year on year revenue by a massive £67 million in the last 12 months.
Their Melton Mowbray site is one of the largest in the group. The site has had a large amount of investment in new lines and upgrades, plus there is £25 Million set aside for further plant upgrades over the next 5 years.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be expected to perform both Electrical and Mechanical repairs on all plant equipment. The bulk of the work is PPM focused, with the Engineers reacting to breakdowns as they arise. Plant equipment includes Mixer, Slicers, Dicers, Blender, Conveyors, Overhead Fillers and Depositors, Ovens, Spiral Chillers, Check Weighs, Metal Detectors, X-Ray Machines, Barcode Printers and Scanners, Robotic Packaging Lines and Robotic Palletisers.
Electrically the Maintenance Engineers will be required to fault find with a multimeter against electrical drawings down to component level. Once the faulty part has been identified it would need to be swapped out as quickly as possible to avoid unnecessary downtime. Electrical components include 3 Phase Motors, Inverters, Relays, Switches, Sensors, E-Stops, Safety Circuits, and Solenoids. Mechanically the Maintenance Engineer will be working with Pneumatic Systems, Gearboxes, Shafts, Bearings, Rollers, Belts, Pulleys, Fans, Compressors, Pumps, and Pipework.
Alongside Maintenance tasks the Maintenance Engineers will also be involved in the various upgrade and installation projects on site, plus Maintenance of Site Services Equipment like Boilers and Steam Plant.
To be successful in your application you must have the following skills or attributes:
- Must have a recognised Electrical Qualification (NVQ3 or Equivalent).
- Must have previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer on automated lines.
- Must be able to read electrical drawings and fault find with a multimeter.
Training and Development
The successful candidate will receive a variety of training and development courses including Mitsubishi PLC training (fault finding and modification), pneumatics, fabrication and welding, plus Boiler and Steam Plant. These will be a mix of in-house and external courses from which you would gain recognised Qualifications.
