Market Intelligence Research Associate

Leading E-commerce Technology company is looking for research associate ideally coming from retail or consumer consultancy background.

Responsible for researching, creating, collating, communicating and presenting relevant and insightful market intelligence and predictive trend analysis to facilitate the Solutions Business Development and Account Management teams in successful pre and post sale client activities.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Development, management and execution of market intelligence methodology
  • Develop and update benchmarks on providers of automation and e-commerce solutions as well as adopters of such solutions in the grocery space.
  • Track market developments and evolution, understand drivers of adoption.
  • Develop understanding of functionalities of alternative providers, synthesize and periodically update competitive benchmarking
  • Contribute to business and financial planning with relevant inputs (eg. market sizing etc)
  • Become a recognised expert
  • Provide market intelligence to enable Solutions Business Development and Account management teams to advise clients beyond immediate business issues and help them define the strategic direction for their organisation
  • Enable Solutions Business Development team to assist the client contact to make a compelling business case within their organisation using relevant and insightful market intelligence
  • Providing customised knowledge for client work and ad hoc requests surfaced during the pre/post sales process
  • Deliver original analysis or aggregate and synthesize existing research, present finding to the Solutions team and clients in well developed documentation (eg presentations, memos etc)

Develop and strengthen internal intellectual property and industry knowledge
  • Own comprehensive understanding of grocery e-commerce business environment (including socio-economic trends, technical developments, fulfillment options etc)
  • Generate forward looking views on the industry based on drivers of consumer behaviour, articulate requirements for business action
  • Contribute to team understanding of all potential clients and client needs, use market intelligence and research to facilitate targeting of potential Solutions global markets and clients
  • Keep abreast of latest development (e.g. market entry, mergers and acquisitions etc), identify and follow appropriate thought leaders and commentators to provide qualitative as well as quantitative research
  • Ensure data and information is up to date, relevant and shared appropriately with the rest of the Solutions team

Skills & Experience
  • Research methodologies: Research and market intelligence experience gained in retail or consumer consultancy
  • Business acumen: Deep understanding of commercial developments within the global retail market
  • Data and information management: Excellent data gathering, analytical and insight skills
  • Project management: Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and maintain progress
  • Supplier and budget management: Experience of working within budgetary constraints to quality standards and targets
  • Excellent data skills, spotting issues and opportunities
  • Ideally has experience of working internationally
  • Ideally speaks other languages to the level where they can conduct business
  • Proven ability to present complex and complicated qualitative and quantitative data in a logical and simple manner
