Role: Lead / Principal Engineer ? Disruptive Technology
Location: Shoreham-by-Sea (Nr Brighton), Sussex
Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 (dependent on proven ability) + bens

Leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Lead Engineer for the R&D (Innovation) division. This role will focus outside of my client?s core-business and be aimed at new strategic markets (disruptive markets) within high technology.

Ideally you will have prior experience delivery control systems or embedded software projects into high technology engineering business. My client can be fairly open on industry. More important is a proven Lead Engineer with proven leadership and client-facing skills

My client is seeking a Lead Engineer for Disruptive Technologies to join the Innovations team. This position reports into the Global Technologist responsible for New Business Models. This division is charged with creating new business models to commercialise new technologies and IP.

The Role:

Key to this business / role is identifying and developing technologies that are not currently part of the core portfolio. At this moment in time, this activity is aligned to research in the controls, cyber security and CAV area.

My client is putting together a cross functional team with objective of identifying opportunities and bringing them to commercial success. As part of this highly creative team we are looking for a Lead Engineer who can provide the technical leadership in these disruptive technology areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to develop the position with the potential to become a Global Technical Expert in these new technology areas

By its nature the environment is creative, entrepreneurial, fast moving, unpredictable. Each initiative will have the characteristics of a business startup, with development taking place in a self-contained research culture, but within the structure and framework that is part of being in a PLC.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Engineer will be responsible for the engineering execution of a range of disruptive technology research programmes. They are also expected to support the commercialisation of these technologies working with the business development team.
