1) To input into the design of the release management standards, processes and governance across the SAP environment, to
a) To translate technical information and business requirements and to be able to communicate and present to a non-technical audience
b) Responsible for defining, prioritising and managing release strategies for change projects (involving the deployment of SAP functionality) and managing transports from multiple projects in multiple environments
c) Responsible for identifying implementing and managing the release management toolkits, such as SAP Solution Manager
d) Owns all formal procedures and control checks for releasing SAP productivity, providing auditable records from definition, deployment, validation, and final sign off. This will include people, process and business impact analysis
2) To manage, build, test and execute release management processes to the defined standards
a) Communicates and acts as the authority on SAP roll-outs, working with all stakeholders to understand the impact and agree the appropriate planned release window
b) Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the production environment and for defining and maintaining all Quality and Production SAP environments and clients
c) Ensure that the data contained in the SAP systems are managed in accordance with the data security policies
d) Support the management of data in the production, quality and development environments
e) Responsible for the risk and quality management of the production and quality environments
f) Works with the infrastructure and the basis team in managing and rolling out SAP functionality
3) Support the applications, platforms and databases
a) Assist the Application Analysts and others in maintaining, resolving and releasing fixes into the SAP environment
b) Manage all releases and transports in a controlled manner to ensure that issues are not introduced and system behaviours and consistent between environments
4) Support the ITMS Programme and Change Management by -
a) Ensure releases are in line with project plans, the development / enhancements are supported by documentation and change communication.
b) Release plans and windows are produced in line with ITMS release management.
c) To safe guard the system and accommodate all projects and BAU releases
5) Work closely within the ITMS design Community, colleagues and the business to
a) Participate in team management decisions through membership of various Support groups
b) coach and mentor colleagues in order to develop the capability of the team, enhance their skills and to offer potential succession planning
c) Liaise and collaborate with Application Management, Developers and UX to deliver end-to-end solutions
d) Help build a strong and effective customer focused and professional service, looking for opportunities to continuously improve the release management service.
6) Remain innovative and stay abreast of all relevant industry and technological developments in the market place. Take responsibility for own personal development.
7) Perform any other duties commensurate with the job grade as reasonably required from time to time.
