1st Line Support Engineer - Essex

Burns Sheehan are partnering with a growing Managed Service Provider based in Billericay Essex and are looking to hire a 1st Line Support Engineer due to an internal promotion.

They manage the IT Services for small to medium size businesses in London and the South East. The services range from deskside, server side (hosted and onsite), Telecommunications support, Security management and networking services.

As the successful 1st Line Support you'll be the first point of contact for their customers as well as being required to ensure the smooth running of their client's infrastructure and business applications by resolving their support issues. Any incidents can be escalated to the 2nd/3rd line team as required.

Key Duties
  • To be first point of contact for incoming support requests (via phone and email)
  • To provide 1st line Technical support to desktop hardware and peripherals
  • To provide 1st line Technical support to software/Business Systems
  • To take ownership of incidents and be proactive when dealing with customer issues
  • To log and update incidents
  • Support the customers in the use of their computer equipment and provide training/advice.
  • To arrange external support where the issues need to be resolved by a 3rd party
  • To provide Active Directory administration


Key Skills
  • Basic understanding of windows hardware set up and configuration
  • Basic Understanding of Microsoft applications
  • Basic understanding of industry standard application packages e.g. Sage
  • Basic Understanding of Networking and troubleshooting
  • Good understanding of and the ability to follow business processes.
  • Be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with external customers at all levels.
  • Attention to detail
