Windows UX-Focused Software Engineer
Our client is seeking a motivated individual to fill a Windows UX-Focused Software Engineer position within our Team in Cambridge, UK. This is a salary position with competitive salary and benefits. As a member of the Software Development Group you will be part of a dynamic development team tasked with providing valuable UX and UI skills alongside maintaining and extending our current Win32 MFC-based products and developing our next-generation product based on .NET technologies.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
· Limited but continual maintenance and extension of current Win32 MFC-based products.
· Developing our next generation product based on .NET technologies.
· Development and execution of unit test procedures.
· Customer requirements gathering.
· UX design and UI mockups
· Development and updating of documentation on work performed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
Essential Skills/Experience
· Understanding of .NET.
· Coding skills in C#.
· Experience developing GUIs, preferably in a Windows environment.
· Demonstrated ability to master diverse technologies.
· Accurately estimate time and resources required for completion of specific features.
· Ability to translate feature requests into the most appropriate visual design and UX.
· Understanding customer requirements and designing comprehensive UX strategies around
them.
· Writing comprehensive design specifications.
· Experience using version-control and bug tracking systems.
· Understanding and appreciation of software development lifecycles.
· Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related discipline and 7+ years of experience.
Bonus Skills/Experience
· MFC, Win32 API, COM and ATL.
· Design code for re-usability and unit tests.
· Good understanding of basic design practices (design patterns) and how/when to project them
into different environments and languages.
· Strong knowledge of troubleshooting and debugging application/services on Windows.
· Windows network programming experience and protocol fundamentals including sockets.
· Experience with communication transport layers such as CAN, RS232, USB, Ethernet and Flexray.
· Knowledge of automobile and engine controls systems.
