Design Engineer - HVAC

As the Design Engineer you will be responsible for design, integration, testing, and production of HVAC cabin airflow ductwork.

Core responsibilities / objectives of the role
- Detailed design of multiple components sitting across several PMT?s
- Managing component requirements and packaging challenges
- Building and performance testing of prototype components
- Conducting system and component level DFMEA
- Management of key supplier relationships
- Design for manufacture
- Work within a small design team, reporting to a larger design authority
- Setting of component and assembly level performance specifications
- Detailed design of components to meet Aero-Acoustic performance targets as well as packaging constraints
- Building of test rigs (workshop skills required)
- Performance testing of components and assemblies (Airflow performance, thermal properties, mechanical robustness, NVH)
- Liaising with suppliers in order to deliver parts to production

Experience required
- 3 years engineering experience
- CAD detailed design, design for manufacture, and DFM
- Experience using surface modelling techniques such as ?sweep?, ?through curves mesh? and ?law curves?
- Understanding of fluid dynamics principles such as compressible flow, total pressure, pressure loss, wall attachment and jet propagation

Preferred Experience
- Ideally has experience working in automotive industry, and specifically HVAC applications
- Experience working with suppliers to take parts to production
- Experience in gasket design
- Experience using Siemens NX11.0

- 2:1 degree level in either industrial design or relevant mechanical engineering related degree.
