Head of Finance with Degree and Chartered Institute of Payroll & Pensions Foundation Degree in Pension Administration or CCAB Qualified Accountant with relevant pension administration experience needed for a 6 month contract role based in Trowbridge.

The client is an extremely well known entity based in the South West that are currently looking for as head of pensions administration to come on board and hit the ground running.

Specific qualifications, knowledge, and skills required for this role:
  • Degree and Chartered Institute of Payroll & Pensions Foundation Degree in Pension Administration or CCAB Qualified Accountant with relevant pension administration experience
  • At least 5 years' post-qualification experience at a senior level within a comparative organisation and function
  • Expert pension administration and regulations knowledge, providing significant advice with impact across employers and employees. For example, awareness of changes and the impact on ways of working around changes to HMRC rules.
  • A broad knowledge and understanding of the bodies and members impacted by the function, for example understanding of how Housing Associations or Academies are funded.
  • Proven extensive senior management experience of managing a significant multiple services/teams - administration, employee/employer relations and systems
  • Substantial experience in both strategic and operational management within the Pensions Administration sector.
  • Experience of working in a political environment and managing political challenges to the direction of the function. Including experience of advising a Pension Committee and Board.
  • Substantial understanding of local government, schools and housing sectors; and the local and regional context in Wiltshire in order to manage employer relations and advice.
  • Ability to deliver and support successful cultural and organisational change programmes both within the function and with impact across all employers, for example models of delivery involving TUPEs or redundancy schemes and future issues / risks of viability on cessation.
  • Effectively handling challenging & complex situations which have wide ranging impact and reputational risk for the client including dealing with employer contribution rate options or employee records, disputes and the National Independent Pension Regulator requirements
  • Leadership of high profile innovative projects which have wide ranging impact and reputational risk for the client, including advice on commercial models of delivery with regards to the impact pension matters have on business case considerations.
  • Significant systems thinking and budget management experience to identify and deliver efficiencies in the cost of administration to keep the Scheme in the lower comparative quartile (>0.5% of Assets).
