Your new company
Your new college is an independent sector specialist college if further education for young adults ages 9 to 25. The college offers both residential and day provision. Provision is provided in the main site and at a site in Portslade and Seaford. The majority of the learning have complex learning difficulties that include autism spectrum conditions, and behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties. Around half of the learners are residential, and half are day learners. The majority of learners work at or below level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework.
Your new role
In your new Maths teaching job you will enjoy working within a secondary school situated in the Brighton area and will specialise within Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will be working for 2 full terms from January 2017 on a full time basis. You will teach KS3 and KS4 GCSE level Maths. You will be responsible for developing the students and guiding them on ways to improve. You will plan and prepare lessons, as well as setting appropriate homework and coursework and have regular contact with students. Working as a Maths Teacher for Hays will also allow you to have access to a number of partnership schools that would be inaccessible by any other means, and you will be given the opportunity to focus on teaching in the Key Stage you specialise in.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed as a Maths Teacher you will need to have qualified teacher status, or be looking to complete your induction year. You will also need to have recent experience within a classroom setting in the last five years and be up to date with recent curriculum changes. You will need to be a creative and positive teacher who is able to embrace new surroundings and situations, whilst demonstrating a professional manor at all times. You will have strong classroom management skills with the ability to adapt to unfamiliar plans and timetables. It is imperative that you have good communication skills as this is crucial when speaking to other members of staff and people in the school.
