Secondary school seeking a Geography Teacher to start in January for a 2 term contract, potentially part time.

Your new company
This secondary school is based on the outskirts of Wigan and has an excellent reputation locally due to the excellent pupil results achieved over recent years. Due to an upcoming maternity leave, the school have approached Hays seeking a Geography Teacher to start in January 2018.

Your new role
Joining the Humanities department in January 2018, you will be responsible for teaching Geography across KS3 and KS4 and this could be on a full or part time basis. Should this be a full time role, you will also be required to teach either History or RE at KS3 in addition to Geography. As this is a long term maternity cover which will continue through until at least the end of the academic year, you will be required to undertake the role of a permanent member of staff with full responsibility for planning and preparation of lessons, as well as the marking and assessment of pupils work. You will be teaching pupils in classes of between 25 and 30, therefore ensuring a positive learning environment is created and that all pupils are achieving to the best of their ability. In addition to this, you will also be required to attend parents evenings and other school functions, therefore fully contributing to school life.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you must possess Qualified Teacher Status and have experience of teaching Geography through to KS4, as well as ideally either History or RE at KS3. You must be available to start in January 2018 and willing to commit to a minimum of a 2 term contract, with this role likely to continue for a short period in September 2018.
