ITP Engines UK Ltd is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to strengthen the current team in the design of gas turbine components and test rigs.

Main responsibilities will be to lead a team of engineers in the design of engine modules or test rig components. This will be from the conceptual phase through to manufacture and testing. These activities will require a good eye for detail, application of sound engineering principles, demonstration of innovative thinking and strong problem solving skills.
The role offers the opportunity to be actively involved in a great many diverse and exciting disciplines. A requirement exists for a good knowledge base with respect to manufacturing methodology, forgings, fabrications and castings, etc. Knowledge of machining methods and use of / application of materials is necessary. Demonstration of Design for Assembly (DFA) and an understanding of associated costs are required.
The successful applicant must demonstrate proficiency in checking hand calculations for mechanical integrity, chiefly with regard to stress / deformation but a good understanding of vibration theory, fluid dynamics and heat transfer is necessary.
The opportunity exists to be actively involved with specialist design functions such as rotor-dynamic investigations and complex stress / strain problems.
Good decision making and inter personal skills as well as good commercial awareness are of paramount importance with respect to the role.

The ideal person will have a good mechanical or aerospace engineering degree with at least 5 years relevant experience in the aerospace industry, as well as:-
? Technical experience of :-
- Solid mechanics and dynamics
- Metallic materials design and selection
- Conceptual layout
- Rotating machinery
- In-depth knowledge of gas turbines.
- Proven track record in core engine design.
- Ability to complete basic hand calculations in support of the design.
- Good grasp of project management principles.
- Experience of 3D modelling e.g. NX, Catia V5 or ProE.
- Experience of managing and coordinating a team of engineers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Positive ?can do? attitude.
- Willingness to travel.
