Mechanical Design Engineer
My client, a leading designer and manufacturer of complex electro-mechanical machinery, is in the midst of a fantastic period of growth. This growth, largely driven by investment in R&D and the quality of the products, is driving this Cambridge based company into new areas and new sectors across the world.
As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work with the R&D team and Project Managers to provide a vast array of design services for the companies products and innovations. The role, which will include specifying, designing and detailing mechanical components and assemblies, will help to develop innovative mechanical solutions for the client and its customers. Working closely with the Project Manager and project teams, you will identify design requirements such as function, cost, reliability and serviceability, to ensure the design integrates into existing machinery and systems seamlessly.
Using Solidworks, you will produce accurate assembly drawings and detail drawings for the effective manufacture and supply of the sub/completed machinery assemblies, including the BOM's specifying bought in components and source of supply.
Ideally qualified at least HNC/HND level, or possessing equivalent vocational training, you will possess at least 3-5 years in a similar role with a special purpose or industrial machinery manufacturer. A background in the design and detailing of machinery including servo-controlled mechanisms, fluid handling, sheet metal, pneumatics and jig/fixtures is essential, as this will make up the core workload of the role, with specific project involvement required for more advanced products. Excellent Solidworks skills are highly desired, however, proficiency in other 3D packages would be considered.
As a leading employer, with a track record of innovation excellence and a culture of staff engagement, my client are a highly regarded destination for candidates with the drive and passion for what they do, and they reward these traits with an excellent salary and benefits package.
