Why is our Application Support team the next step for you?

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to work on Worldwide Payment Gateway (WPG) - an eComm gateway within Worldpay allowing customers to process payments from their websites.

Working as part of an Application Support team supporting the WPG, you will operate according to the defined and deployed global operating model, maximising consistency across the wider global group. Currently the team is growing in size, become a part of this growth and assist in accommodating the customer evolution during recent and future years.

How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?

You will be responsible for troubleshooting and the investigation of production system problems of a 24-7 service where stability, reputation management and security are critical to the business’ ongoing success. You will be involved with data gathering and analysis using Oracle databases, provide 24/7 out of hours on-call support on a rota basis and perform regular reviews of the incident management queues. You will be responsible for coordination and implementation of essential production maintenance tasks, statistic gathering following production events as well as defining, developing and maintaining documentation knowledgebase.

Proactively identifying improvements and enhancements to working practices are part of the role, as well as assisting with audit data gathering and compliance with incident resolution best practice. You will also be responsible for implementing automation of manual tasks wherever possible.

What will make you the ideal candidate?

You will have ITIL Service Management operational support experience providing 2nd and 3rd line support for a J2EE application. You will be well versed with Apache/ Tomcat technologies and able to read and write Java code. You will have experience designing and implementing coding solutions to resolve incident fixes following these through dev, test and into production. Using memory dumps to help diagnosis and identify application issues is advantageous.

Experience with relational databases – ideally using Oracle - as well as a good understanding of database design concepts. You will have the ability to write TSQL comfortably and have experience with optimization of database performance including use of indexing of queries to optimise data retrieval. Experience with Unix platforms using general Unix commands for day to day tasks. Experience reading and writing Shell Scripts to optimise tasks and implement automation where possible.

You will have the ability to implement application software releases into test and production environments. You will have a proactive approach and excellent communication skills.
