Embedded Software Team Leader C/C++ - Bracknell.

Due to further expansion, this leading designer and manufacturer of quality electronic Control equipment for smart buildings, home/building automation, (IoT), are seeking an experienced Software Team Leader with solid C/C++ skills in an Embedded environment.

As a Software Team Leader you will lead a team of Software and Hardware Engineers in the design, implementation, testing and maintenance of Control Products. In addition to being the technical lead, this involves managing team members to deliver the assigned work from the Project Manager on time and to the required quality.

The Software Team Leader will work with the team to create work breakdown structures along with effort estimates, monitoring progress as well as identifying and addressing risks, providing status reports to the Project Manager as required on the assigned tasks, provide line management duties for the team. This is principally a hands on role where you will get involved in the design, implementation, testing, reviewing of code so you must be an experienced Development Engineer or Embedded Software Engineer.

The Knowledge, experience, skills required for the Software Team Lead include :
* Technical team leadership.
* Line management of technical staff, appraisals, one to ones, handling and resolving issues.
* Good C and C++ programming language experience (5 Years minimum).
* Experience of a full SDLC environment.
* Object Oriented design methods and associated tools.
* Good interpersonal skills, good communications, both written and verbal.
* A relevant software qualification (Degree, HND, HNC).
* Strong problem solving skills.

It would be desirable if you have the following skills, experience :
* Software project management or work package management.
* Experience in the Security Industry or Home/Building Automation.
* Hardware development experience (3 Years minimum).
* Design for high volume manufacturing and testing.
* Product and system testing to meet relevant EN standards & approvals requirements.

The main accountabilities of the role include :
* Responsible for ensuring the team delivers on time and to the required quality.
* Monitoring the progress of the team on the assigned tasks and identifying risks and proposing solutions or escalating as required.
* Team appraisals and 1 to 1s.
* Work with team members to provide realistic and achievable effort estimates.
* Allocation of project tasks and work to team members.
* Provide progress reports to the Project Manager.
* Ensure all work adheres to the companies processes.
* Identify and promote processes that improve efficiencies and the products quality.
* As required, design, implement, test and deliver embedded software.
* Review product requirements and design/test documentation.
* Maintain and improve existing control and sensor software.

The Software Team Lead will work on new Sensor Development R&D projects associated with detectors, acoustic, video, integrating ip camera and integrating Z-Wave Wireless into Products. The attractiveness of the role is the "hands on" variety - low level embedded development, high level applications in C/C++, working in a multi-disciplinary team allied to the Internet of Things ( IoT ). The role can lead into Project Management or R&D Engineering Management.
