Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Network Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an Oil and Gas client based in Aberdeen. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and management of the corporate wide IT network and all related systems, such as the global WAN, site LANs, telephony systems, wireless network and associated services and technologies. The Senior Network Engineer will also provide third line technical support across the company’s global operations. The Senior Network Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities: Installing / implementing and configuring technologies and platforms to support the corporate network infrastructure. Maintaining and upgrading corporate network infrastructure. Ensuring availability of corporate IT technology that supports internal business functions for the meeting of agreed service levels. Providing security to all network related systems. Troubleshooting third level issues that impacts the operation of the corporate network infrastructure. Managing and monitoring of corporate network infrastructure. Performing changes according to the corporate Change Management procedure. Documenting design, operation and troubleshooting of technology platforms and procedures. Participating in the planning and execution of IT projects within budget and time constraints. Participating in the on-call schedule for off-hours support. Mentoring other members of staff within the IT Team. Developing effective relationships with third party providers. Experience / Qualifications: Previous and recent experience within a Network Engineer position within the Oil and Gas Industry is essential for this role. Previous and specific Senior Network Engineering experience would be highly desirable. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing & Switching certification is essential. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security certification is essential. Applicants will be expected to be working towards CCNP Security and CCIE Routing & Switching qualifications. CCNA Collaboration and CCNA Wireless certification would be highly desirable. The client is ideally looking for applicants to have technical experience in the following areas: Networking fundamentals. Network monitoring and reporting – SNMP, Netflow. Routing technologies – BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, HSRP. VPN management. Network troubleshooting. Cisco networking hardware – ISR routers, Catalyst & Nexus switching and ASA Firewalls. Cisco Unified CallManager. Voice technologies – POTS, VoIP, SIP. Cisco Identity Services Engine. Cisco Firepower Intrusion Prevention System. pxGrid. Cisco Wireless Deployment and Management. Cisco Prime. WAN optimisation and acceleration using Riverbed Steelheads. Riverbed Cascade.
