Customer Technical Services (CTS) are responsible for customer satisfaction by delivering proactive and reactive technical support on the basis of expertise, products and processes to our Customers, thereby contributing to revenue improvements through product mix and volume. It works within the framework of the commercial objectives of Tata Steel and takes independent decisions regarding advice on technical product improvements for Customers.

We are recruiting for a Customer Technical Services Engineer to work on the technical support and development of our carbon steel Tube products. The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously in the market place alongside Customers technical contacts to provide robust technical solutions while developing & nurturing relationships with the Customers. And by working closely with Tata Steel Operations & Commercial deploy Tata Steel resources to deliver increased value for Tata Steel.

The principal accountabilities are:

* Reactive technical services so that customer satisfaction with Tata Steel's products is maintained or improved.

* Understands any Customer complaint in detail, assessing the complexity and justification of the complaint in order to work towards a solution which improves the Customer's satisfaction.
* Works closely with the organisation to implement effective measures to prevent continued complaints and ensures close and effective Customer communications to ensure that our Customers understand and accept the solution.

* Proactive Technical services so that the customer is optimally supported in improving its processes and products.

* Obtains an understanding of the current technical specifications from customer
* Obtains an understanding of the Engineer & Designers technical specifications and work towards a technical specification conversion to TSE differentiated products.
* Works proactively to match the Customer's technical specifications to products within the Tata Steel portfolio and within the European & International standards landscape.

* Technical and commercial advice to sales (volume/product mix) is optimised for customers.

* Exchanges knowledge with customers about new technical developments within the Customer organisation, within Tata Steel and in the market.
* Recognises opportunities, in line with these developments, to respond to customer needs and translates these into new proposals for (differentiated) products or applications
* Clearly identifies benefits for the Customer and works hand in hand to develop a strong relationship leading to jointly launching development projects for products or applications

* Customer satisfaction
* Monitors and evaluates customer satisfaction using complaint trends, customer calls and take appropriate action where necessary in the organisation
* Recognises product and application problems and translates them into proposals to complete technical product improvements

* Operates as the Technical link within key customer account planning.
* Maintains and develops an extensive network of experts within Tata Steel.
* Liaise with and utilise Tata Steel technical & operational experts as required to service the customer.
* Establish and maintain long term Customer relationships, gaining support among the various contacts within the Customer organisation

Person Specification / Requirements

For this challenging role, we expect the ideal candidate:

* Chartered Structural Engineer with a bachelor degree.
* Has Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Is a motivated and resilient Engineer (ideally Chartered) with experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.
* Is Self-driven, with strong organisation and coordination skills will be essential, as will be skills in advocacy in order to draw together resources from across products and operations.
* Has keen business acumen will need to be deployed to assist with Commercial activities. An ability to perform in multi-function, geographic and cultural environments is essential.

* Has Strong inter-personal skills , is flexible, has well developed influencing and negotiating skills.
* Has a clean driving license
* Will be required to travel through Europe to support the products.

Ideal Knowledge & Expertise

* Knowledge of and affinity for technology
* Knowledge of steel and steel products TSE and processing
* Knowledge of Quality Systems, European/International standards and quality improvement techniques
* The ability to work independently but also within a commercial/technical team is essential.
* The jobholder must possess a high standard of communication and presentation skills.
* Knowledge of project management, product development projects, market development
