NES Global Talent is currently looking for a Principal Pipelines Engineer for a short term contract role until the end of the year. Our client, a design consultancy in Aberdeen, is looking for someone who has significant experience in FE analysis and very compentent with Abaqus software. You will be working within their subsea/pipelines division and will carry out a lead role, working alongside a number of designers/engineers within the team. Responsibilities: - Undertake and check pipeline FE analysis using Abaqus software (for FE roles only). - Undertake & check pipeline analytical calculations with tools such as Mathcad and Excel. - Write and check project deliverables. - Contribute to the technology development of the team. - Project meetings on behalf of client Experience required: - Extensive experience using Abaqus FE software, including subroutines and scripts (FE roles only). - Programming in Python, Fortran and/or Visual Basic or others (FE roles only). - Minimum past experience of 2 projects involving advanced FEA of pipelines subject to lateral buckling (FE roles only). - Minimum first degree or equivalent - Strong MathCad experience - Check isometrics, general arrangement, field layout, alignment sheets & approach drawings. - Understanding of the principles of fatigue & engineering critical assessments. - Design experience of pipelines exposed to trawling interaction. - Experience of Structural Reliability Assessment. - Knowledge of fracture mechanics.
