Senior Category Manager opportunity looking at HR spend (predominantly Recruitment) with an innovative and highly successful Financial Services Firm. This is a terrific Category Management role, in a great company; the package and bonus on offer are highly competitive and there are opportunities for flexible working.

Senior Category Manager Role:
To lead for the development and execution of commercial strategies which provide competitive advantage for the business in the market. You will need to have a deep understanding of your assigned market, ensuring you are demonstrably company expert in this category, understanding key trends in the market and proactively using these to bring innovation into the business, whilst unlocking value year-on-year from our commercial arrangements. Senior Category Managers will manage portfolios which are significant in terms of Customer and Business impact, spend, market complexity and scope.

There is some team management, required in this role (2 reports). The business is undergoing a period of change and opportunities to develop you career are excellent.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, build, execute and maintain the overall Category Strategy including a prioritised set of Procurement opportunities agreed with stakeholders and sourcing and negotiation strategies which together deliver sustainable benefits and competitive advantage for the business
  • Ensure that the above delivers end-to-end commercial, contractual and relationship lifecycle value, in the eyes of key stakeholders and from the bottom line
  • Build, develop and maintain key relationships across the business ensuring that your assigned category is recognised as a Centre of Excellence with up-to-date market insight.
  • Manage the category area continually reviewing the efficacy, efficiency and security of current supply arrangements and customer impacts ensuring that contracts remain in force, effective and up to date with market trends, price and service competitiveness and regulatory change
  • Identify, manage and mitigate commercial and supply chain risk, ensuring effective Due Diligence is completed in line with the BSP with appropriate evidence effectively stored post contract signature.
  • Seek out new areas where Procurement can bring value by being involved in activity not traditionally supported by Procurement.


Knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience:
Essential:

  • You must have demonstrable stakeholder management ability up to Executive level with the gravitas to interact and influence at that level to deliver effective Procurement strategies across the company which are collaborative and unlock Innovation.
  • Strong experience of third-party contractual work is a must combined with the ability to lead and deliver initiatives to improve the quality and value of the components of our cost base within your assigned Category area.
  • Deep understanding of the Customer Journey and how to continually improve service as a key differentiator in the marketplace.
  • Strong leadership skills and behaviours
  • Take leadership responsibility for providing day to day line management, coaching and developing others to ensure that performance objectives are met and team feel engaged, valued and motivated.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial models and approach/techniques necessary to achieve best in class sourcing deals
  • Proven ability to lead complex sourcing projects which release substantial value for the business
  • Established relationship management and networking skills and experience, required for both key stakeholder and supplier engagement
  • Category management expertise, including the ability to develop meaningful Category Strategies and in-depth knowledge of your assigned category

Desirable:

  • Educated to a minimum of degree standard or equivalent professional qualification (CIPS desirable) or business experience equivalent
  • Previous Project Management experience
  • Previous experience within a Financial Services environment
