Design and Simulation is one of the key strategic groups within the MTC's digital engineering offering. The group supports both the external customizers and internal MTC Groups, de-risking and optimising the design of their manufacturing system's solutions prior physical commitment and investment.
The main purpose of this role is to support the Design & Simulation theme, in particular the Business & Factory Optimisation team, with project-based creative problem solving, solution concepts, system design and optimisation.
The post holder is expected to apply knowledge and experience conducting Discrete Event Simulation studies on real engineering problems to look at the effects on the complete business systems to ensure MTC's client can achieve their broad ranging goals as they drive towards achieving manufacturing excellence.
Duties will include;
Supply of project's technical deliverables under guidance of senior member of staff;
Provide technical support to others in areas of expertise;
Technical leadership of project and/or work package portfolio -
Project management of project and/or work package portfolio -
Support project proposal and business case writing;
Support technical liaison with customer during project delivery;
Support engagement with new and existing customers to win business;
Generation of new project ideas in alignment with the theme's strategy;
Skills required will include;
Statistics analysis using tools such as Minitab, R or SPSS;
Object Oriented Programming skills such as VBA, C++, Java;
Knowledge and use of Discrete Event Simulation or Virtual Commissioning.
Knowledge of the manufacturing sector and understanding of manufacturing systems and technologies;
Applicants should have an educational background in operation management/research; mathematics; engineering or manufacturing, have manufacturing layout design, programming and data analytics experience.
You will be degree qualified and ideally have 1+ years relevant manufacturing simulation systems in industrial manufacturing or R&D environments with a maths, technical or engineering Degree, Masters or PhD as your degree.
