Shift Process Engineer (Semiconductors III-V Optoelectronics) Cardiff
Salary £20,000-£28,000 per annum plus 40% Shift Allowance
Based in Cardiff, but with office and factory locations across the UK, Europe, US and Asia, ESS Holdings? client is a leading manufacturer of opto-electronic and III-V semiconductor materials and devices. Their product applications typically go into LED type products. Ongoing growth, coupled to excellent trading conditions in the last six months, means they now need to make the key hire of a Shift Process Engineer.
Reporting into the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for translating customer?s requirements into a finished product that meets the customer defined physical, electronic and optical specifications. You will carry out these duties on a shift basis, and provide the main technical focal point out-of-normal working hours.
Other key responsibilities should include:
? Day-to-day responsibility for one or more process reactors, recipe generation, customer sign-off and overall process responsibility for relevant product lines
? Liaison with other teams (Maintenance and Production) to ensure reactors are maintained and run to the required specifications ensuring the customer is delivered a quality product.
? Support to Product Directors and provide technical support to customers, via conference calls and meetings.
? Provide escalation path to Shift Teams for problem solving.
? Schedule bays to achieve released orders.
? Ensure that all customer requirements are met in full and on time;
? Inspect all pertinent production and characterisation data and authorise the release of product to the customer.
? Prepare & present report on product & production related data (including for customers) as required;
? Monitor reactor performance and identify solutions to production problems;
? Participate in bay improvement programs.
Educated to HNC/HND calibre in a technical, manufacturing or scientific discipline, you are an experienced semiconductor process engineer. Ideally, we are looking for candidates with a solid appreciation of MOVPE or III-V semiconductor material processing. This would also suit candidates from mainstream semiconductors, R+D and optoelectronic backgrounds. Strong problem-solving skills are a must in this role.
Highly skilled and motivated graduate calibre candidates with a background in physics, chemistry and/or some semiconductor processing knowledge should also apply.
