They currently have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Control & Automation Engineer to join their team in Winfrith Newburgh, Dorset.
The Role: As a Senior Control & Automation Engineer you will be responsible for the development of control and automation solutions to support Handling System and Electric Driver technology. With specific interest in submarine and surface ship handling systems, electric drives and supportive technology, this role will play a key role within this highly dynamic, innovative and speculative domain.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
? Deriving high level customer requirements into project specific system requirements
? Providing technical leadership to projects
? Providing design review, design management and control expertise to junior engineers
? Defining and generating automation and control solutions to meet customer requirements
? Planning and performing system testing to demonstrate that the finished product meets customer requirements
? Communicating the technical solution and demonstrating compliance with requirements in line with the engineering review process
? Ensuring deliverables meet customer expectations and requirements, and that they are delivered to time, cost and quality
The Candidate: The ideal candidate for the Senior Control & Automation Engineer role will have experience of designing and commissioning complex Control Automation Systems in the Industrial or Defence environment and ideally have knowledge and experience of Programmable Logic Controllers, Programmable Automation Controllers, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems and Distributive Control Systems. You will also have an understanding and experience of high power electric drive technologies in industrial applications and a formal qualification to first degree standard in an electronic engineering, software, computer science or similar discipline.
Essential Candidate Criteria:
? Experience of designing and commissioning complex Control Automation Systems in the Industrial or Defence environment
Highly Desirable Candidate Criteria:
? Knowledge and experience of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
? Knowledge and experience of Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs)
? Knowledge and experience of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
? Knowledge and experience of Distributive Control Systems (DCS)
? Understanding and experience of high power electric drive technologies in industrial applications
? A formal qualification to first degree standard (2:1) in an electronic engineering, software, computer science or similar discipline
? MSc in Automation & Control (or closely related subject)
? Chartered status or aspiration to work towards Chartered Status (IET)
? A high/expert level of professional experience in the field of control systems and/or electric drive technologies
? Good discipline in the application of engineering practices and quality procedures
