Global Category Buyer
Working for one of the UK's most recognised brands at their world headquarters in Staffordshire, this is an interesting and challenging role, working within the manufacturing purchasing department.
The role is based within Group Purchasing and is responsible for the efficient purchasing of a particular category within production.
Reporting directly to a Global Category Manager the role is responsible for delivering the strategic direction as agreed and ensuring that the supply base is capable of meeting business expectations.
Acting as Lead Buy, the role involves overseeing the management of suppliers, working closely with Engineering, Quality and Materials to ensure category objectives are met globally in support of long term plans.
? Ensure adherence to the Early Supplier Engagement SOP to engage suppliers and ensure parts are designed to cost and designed for manufacture.
? Ensure the agreed criteria are met and that cost targets and delivery of these are adhered to throughout the NPI process.
? Support engineering and Quality teams to make sure suppliers meet Group and Category PPM targets.
? Carry out the required process for ensuring new suppliers meet business requirements and minimise risk.
? To be responsible for compiling and delivering an annual budget for the Lead Buy areas and support the execution of the global elements of the budget.
? To promote VA/VE activity within the supply base and support the implementation of approved projects
? To negotiate and agree Long Term Agreements with ?Key? suppliers.
? To act on alerts created from the continuous risk assessment process and to ensure Business Continuity plans are in place with appropriate suppliers.
? Acting as a lead buy to prepare for and carry out formal supplier evaluation reviews with appropriate suppliers. Follow up key improvement actions with suppliers.

Ideally the candidate should have the following:
? Graduate calibre
? Preferably CIPS qualified
