Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer / Systems Engineer

A leading organisation that specialises in the design and development for the next generation of Aerospace engines. They have recently started a ground-breaking innovative project and as a result of this, they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer, on a permanent basis, to design and define key mechanical components and interfaces.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will receive:

THE CANDIDATE

Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer / Systems Engineer

The Mechanical Design Engineer will require the following:

Essential Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience or knowledge of mechanical ancillary equipment (valves/ducts/seals/joints)
  • Appreciation or experience with systems engineering around ancillary equipment
  • Generate unit requirements and manage via DOORS
  • The ability to interpret, assess and draw conclusions from vibration and thermal stress analysis
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks (or a similar CAD package)

Desirable:

  • Degree or similar in Mechanical Engineering related qualification or an appropriate scientific discipline
  • Experience with numerous NPI cycles
  • Knowledge of weld specification, analysis and test procedures
  • Knowledge of ASME or similar standards

THE ROLE

Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an exciting new venture and hit the ground running. We are also looking for a team player who has a positive approach to work and can focus when completing a variety of responsibilities.

Day to day tasks will include:

  • Working with the relevant system stakeholders to develop ancillary sub-system architecture in line with individual component requirements and specifications
  • Assessing the key mechanical characteristics of system concepts and components as well as trading performance and developing conceptual ideas
  • Liaising with supply chain with a view to obtain technical proposals and overseeing supplier delivery
  • Preparing, presenting and reporting technical work to peers, suppliers and customers
