French Duncan are delighted to support our client, encompass, who specialise in RegTech software for professional and financial services to recruit a Finance Officer based in their operations HQ, Glasgow. You will have a growing level of autonomy, and report directly to the Head of Finance, who will predominantly be based between Brighton and London. We require a confident professional who works well individually, as well as part of a cross-departmental team environment, and must enjoy the pace, variety and intensity of working for an early-stage high-growth tech company. You will play in a key role in the development and establishment of an efficient, robust and value-add finance team. Key responsibilities Compliance Day to day bookkeeping requirements including A/R, A/P, bank reconciliations for all group companies Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures Own the A/P and staff expenses function, to ensure control compliance and process efficiencies Prepare regular supplier payment runs, maintain supplier accounts and create bank payments Regular balance sheet, P&L and cash flow reconciliations Monthly payroll preparation for UK and AU businesses, pensions and superannuation management Ensure GAAP/IFRS compliance and act as contact to external accountants and auditors Preparation of statutory reporting and assistance with managing the audit process Assistance with R&D claims and various grants in AU and UK Tax compliance duties including VAT, BAS, payroll tax and assistance with income tax returns Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of financial and management reporting Act as a contact for suppliers, customers and other stakeholders Ensure all legal, HR and finance documentation is securely filed in line with company policy Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times Business Operations Scope and implement new processes and control environment across all finance areas, using technology to deliver a scalable and streamlined function Provide various P&L and cash analyses to increase insight into company, departmental & product performance Assist with month end close, including board reporting, executive level reporting and management reporting Complete monthly UK & AU company management accounts Assist with implementation of fully automated A/R system Weekly reconciliation of customer accounts between Xero and Salesforce Work closely with Success and Sales groups to ensure processes are being correctly executed to maintain accurate and timely key metric reporting Produce analysis as required by the Head of Finance that will help to shape the way we run the business HR, Legal & Admin Assist with HR function including managing the on/off boarding staff processes, leave processes, visa requirements and assisting with the management of our HR SaaS platform, BambooHR. Assistance with risk reviews and the insurance coverage of the group Assist with the maintenance of the Corporate Register and companies house lodgements Various general office and administration tasks will be required on a regular basis Requirements for the role & your experience You will be a part-qualified (ACCA or ICAS) accountant with a strong interest in tech and SaaS You will have at least 3 years of experience either from a chartered accounting firm, or a high growth SME or start-up. Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and to maintain an excellent standard of work You will have a keen eye for detail, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills You are happy to “get your hands dirty” with routine day-to-day tasks and tackling ad-hoc requests You must be comfortable dealing with confidential information in a professional manner Xero experience is highly preferred, but not essential Good working knowledge of MS Excel Sound technical IFRS knowledge Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred but not essential AU compliance experience preferred but not essential Some flexibility in working hours may be required to deal with our global operations team
