Lead DFM Tooling Engineer

Tooling industrialisation starts with the first design phases, with design for manufacture at the very heart of the company's R&D philosophy.

Lead on manufacturability, working with around 40 design engineers in an forward-thinking facility that fully integrates design, industrialisation and manufacturing - through multidisciplinary teams, and shared purpose!
Oversee a small team that owns and champions the tooling, moulding and material selection aspects of creating complex mechanical products, from first design concept, through production design and implementation, to volume manufacture.
Discuss advanced technical requirements and solutions with global pharma customers and suppliers, en route to solutions that deliver the functionality and reliability demanded.
Lead the continued development of the company's mould flow and moulding processes, evaluating new technologies, carrying out Mouldflow simulations and designing / testing prototype tooling, materials and processes.
Be the 'go to' person for tooling industrialisation on assigned R&D projects, as technical authority
Contribute fully to the creation of incredibly innovative medical devices that build on a pioneering pedigree going back over 50 years.

* Significant high volume manufacturing experience, with an impressive record of completing high value technical tooling projects on-time and on budget.
* Skilled at developing conceptual and detailed tooling layouts and interpreting DFM reports.
* Experience of developing and deploying mixed styles of injection moulding systems, hot runner systems and materials, for multi-cavity, multi-colour, multi-component.
* Excellent communicator, who can influence design thinking in a positive, collaborative way.
* Level 4 qualification or higher in moulding or polymer science - or time-served with substantial further study and training.
* AutoDesk Mouldflow and Solidworks Professional certified
